Region & Attractions...
We are perfectly situated for a variety of activities. The south coast of Morbihan has a great choice of golf courses for all levels. Of course France has a long history with cycling and the Tour de France is held every June/July so you are sure to be able to catch a glimpse as they speed by! If you prefer to do the riding yourself there are many suitable places and for the more experienced rider there is La Voie Vert (The Green Route) a 40km cycle route between Mauron and Questembert.
The gite will have a selection of brochures of what is on and attractions to visit.
Beaches
There are wonderful beaches on both the north and south coasts with miles of golden sands. Perfect bays for sailing or wind surfing or just relaxing on the beach. The Nantes to Brest canal passes nearby and is perfect for walks or cycling along the tow paths. Fishing is available along the canal and in the lakes, you just need a fishing permit available from all tabacs.
Markets
All the towns in Brittany hold their own open air market every week selling everything you can think of from fresh fruit and vegetables, fresh pate and cheese to live chickens or ducks. You can also pick up your lunch ready to eat from stalls selling spit roasted meats or the local dishes. Take a break for lunch and enjoy a delicious crepe or galette. These markets are always busy and great fun.
Market times vary but start early, usually around 7am and finish between midday and 1pm.

Josselin
Josselin is only a 10 minute drive away and the wonderful Chateau overlooking the Nantes to Brest Canal. Josselin is one of a number of Petite Cite de Caractere (literally little city of character) There is so much to see in the town, from the half timbered houses to the beautiful Basilique Notre Dame du Roncier where you can take a walk up to the top of the clock tower for a view of the town. The Chateau which is still lived in by the family of the present Duc du Rohan, is open for guided tours in english throughout the summer. Nearby in the converted stable is the Musee de la Poupee (Dolls Museum).
Every Bastille Day (14th July) the town dresses up in period costume celebrating their historic past and finishes with a fantastic firework display set over the Chateau and canal, well worth a visit. There are plenty of cafes where you can sit and enjoy a coffee and watch the world go by. Also some very good restaurants whether you want a gourmet meal or just a snack.
Most weeks you will see signs for Troc et Puces (flea market), Brocantes (second hand goods) or Vide Greniers (empty attics) a type of car boot sale. There are always a wide range of items for sale. These are great fun and you can do your own ‘Bargain Hunt’. Who knows what collectables you might find?
Quiberon
On the South Coast is the seaside town of Quiberon. It is a very popular place to visit in both summer and winter. Just along the coast is Carnac which is famous for its ancient standing stones as well as a lively town and long sandy beach. On the North coast you will find the medieval town of Dinan, with its restored half timbered buildings dating from the 13th and 14th centuries. It is a full day’s excursion to explore the town, castle and ramparts with numerous bars and cafes.
Vannes
Vannes is Brittany’s southernmost major tourist town. A large and thriving community with a small mainly pedestrian walled city in its midst. A perfect place to sit and watch the world go by. Also a popular sailing area within the golfe du Morbihan.
